How to Send a Gift Message on Instagram

With the latest Instagram update, new Direct Message features are here!

Now you can edit messages and pin chats for quick access. Plus, personalize chats with themes like Love, Chill, and Wish.

Special effects like hearts, circles, fire, and gift box are available. Add fun to your conversations with these dynamic elements.

Learn how to send a gift message on Instagram to friends and family for a special touch.

Open the Instagram app and navigate to your Direct Messages (DM). You can find this by tapping the messenger icon in the top right corner of the home screen.
Open a conversation with the recipient you want to send the message to.
Type your message in the chat box at the bottom of the screen. This can be a birthday wish, a greeting, or anything else you’d like.
Once you’ve finished typing your message, look to the left of the chat box. You’ll see a search icon there.
Tap the search icon. This will open a menu with various effects you can add to your message.
Look for the gift box effect. It might be towards the end of the list, so you may need to swipe through the options.
Tap on the gift box effect. This will send your message wrapped in a digital gift box animation.
The recipient will see the animation and then be able to tap on the gift box to reveal your message.
